A former Episcopal priest, Reverend Leo Booth is a Unity minister, an internationally acclaimed author, lecturer, and trainer on all aspects of spirituality and recovery from depression, addictions, compulsive behaviors, and low self-esteem.
A Certified Addictions Counselor, a Certified Eating Disorders Counselor, and a NAADAC Approved Education Provider, Rev. Leo speaks at many National and International conferences, plus churches of all denominations. In addition to specific in-services and lectures on religious addiction and abuse, Rev. Leo presents workshops, lectures, and training on a broad spectrum of issues to a variety of organizations and institutions. Rev. Leo contributes regularly to newspapers across the United States and is the author of 10 publications, including When God Becomes a Drug, The Wisdom of Letting Go, and Pearl in the Rice. Rev. Leo has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Geraldo, Sally Jesse Raphael and Good Morning America. Rev. Leo Booth is a dynamic, spiritual rebel with a cause, an energetic mix of Charlie Chaplin with a touch of Dudley Moore, who wants to bring spirituality back into religion. Born and educated in England, he became one of the youngest rectors in that country. He also became an alcoholic. Since his own transformational moment in 1977, he entered treatment for his alcoholism and has been dedicated to working with people suffering from addictions and compulsive behaviors. As he worked with recovering addicts of all kinds, he recognized that negative, unhealthy religious messages often play a major part in creating ingrained guilt and shame. In his many books on spirituality and recovery, he explores in depth the issues of religious addiction and religious abuse and their effects on recovery from substance addiction and compulsive behaviors. In his keynote at the National Wellness Conference in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Rev. Booth demonstrated a boundless capacity to customize his message, applying it to total wellness and human potential. He truly has an important message for all listeners, no matter what their beliefs may be. Rev. Leo Booths topics include:
